Toronto police have identified a third suspect believed to be involved in a deadly shooting in North York earlier this week. The shooting, which took place near Driftwood Avenue and Jane Street at around 2:15 p.m. on September 17, left two men dead following an exchange of gunfire.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, identified as 26-year-old Ibrahim Handule, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, 27-year-old Deshawn Walters, was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.
Initially, police were searching for a third person involved in the altercation. On Saturday, authorities confirmed that the suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Yahye Hussein Mohamud of Toronto, who is now wanted for second-degree murder.
Although two firearms were recovered from the scene, it remains unclear who fired the fatal shots. Investigators have yet to determine whether Mohamud is directly responsible for the deaths of Handule or Walters.
Police have appealed to the public for assistance in locating Mohamud and are urging anyone with information about the fatal shooting to come forward. Residents of the area have expressed concerns about recent violence, with this incident adding to growing anxiety in the community.
Authorities are encouraging anyone with knowledge of the shooting to contact investigators or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers. The investigation remains active, and police are working to piece together the full details of the incident.
