York Regional Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of 47-year-old Zhixiong Marko Hu in connection with the murder of Markham real estate agent Yuk-Ting Anita Mui. Mui, 56, was reported missing by her family on August 9, 2024. Later that same day, her new Mercedes-Benz GLE450 SUV was found abandoned near Finch Avenue East and Warden Avenue in Toronto.

Tragically, on August 12, Mui’s burned remains were discovered on a property in Parry Sound, Ontario. After an intensive investigation, police have identified Hu as a suspect and have charged him with first-degree murder. The nature of Hu’s connection to Mui has not been disclosed by authorities.

York Regional Police have also seized two vehicles associated with Hu: a 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van with the Ontario license plate CWHW720, and a grey 2021 Porsche Cayenne SUV with the Ontario license plate CTZT172. Investigators believe that the van was used to transport Mui to the Parry Sound property where her remains were found. There is also suspicion that the Porsche Cayenne may have had different license plates attached around the time of Mui’s disappearance.

This case has already seen three other suspects, all minors, who have been charged with fraud under $5,000 after being found in possession of Mui’s property. One of these minors is also facing weapons charges, though none have been directly connected to Mui’s death.

York Regional Police are urging anyone who may have seen either of the vehicles associated with Hu to come forward with information. The public’s assistance is crucial in helping to bring justice for the tragic death of Yuk-Ting Anita Mui.
