York Regional Police are seeking witnesses following a series of shootings at a cinema in the City of Richmond Hill. The latest incident occurred on Friday, June 29, 2024, at approximately 3:15 a.m., when a complainant reported shots fired at the front entrance of the cinema located near East Beaver Creek and Highway 7.

Upon arrival, officers discovered several bullet holes in the front doors and shell casings nearby. Fortunately, the cinema was closed at the time, and no injuries were reported. Surveillance footage from the area shows a blue sedan pulling up outside the cinema, with a suspect firing shots from inside the vehicle.

This marks the fourth shooting at the cinema since May 17, each involving different suspect vehicles.

  • On May 24, an employee arriving for work found the windows of the main entrance doors shattered. Video footage showed a suspect in a dark-colored sports utility vehicle firing multiple shots at the entrance before fleeing the scene.
  • On May 17, multiple shots were fired at the main entrance doors shortly before 10 p.m.
  • On May 19, another round of shots was fired at 9:23 p.m. towards the main entrance doors.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed any of these incidents or possesses dashcam footage or video surveillance of the area to come forward.
