A 12-year-old male from Oshawa is now facing charges after police responded to a threatening call on Sunday, February 11, 2024. At around 10:00 am, members of Central East Division acted on a reported threat where a video surfaced on Snapchat, depicting the young suspect threatening to shoot the victims.

The video, a piece of crucial evidence, showcased the suspect brandishing a firearm along with ammunition. Prompt and thorough investigation led to the arrest of the 12-year-old without incident.

Oshawa’s 12-Year-Old Faces Serious Charges

Responding to the severity of the situation, members from Central East Division, Central West Division, and the Gun and Gang Unit collaborated to execute a search warrant. The operation took place in the area of Bloor Street East and Ritson Road South, resulting in the seizure of a loaded firearm and additional ammunition.

The 12-year-old now faces several charges, including Uttering Threats (x2), Weapons Dangerous, Possession of a Restricted/Prohibited Firearm without a License or Registration Certificate, Knowingly Possessing a Restricted/Prohibited Firearm without a License, Using a Firearm During the Commission of an Offence, and Possession of a Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm.
