Homicide detectives are actively investigating the alleged murder of a 56-year-old man, identified as Kuldip Singh, who succumbed to severe injuries inflicted by his own son on Saturday night in Stoney Creek.

The incident unfolded at a residence near Trafalgar Drive and Mud Street around 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, prompting a swift response from Hamilton police. Singh was rushed to the hospital but, tragically, did not survive his injuries.

An updated news release from the police on Sunday afternoon revealed that the 22-year-old son, identified as Sukhraj Cheema-Singh, is now wanted for first-degree murder.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the suspect fled the residence following an altercation with the victim.

Authorities believe Sukhraj Cheema-Singh was present in the area for approximately 30 minutes before the tragic incident occurred.

The suspect was last seen driving a blue 2022 Ford Edge with a Quebec licence plate: FSC 7432. It was last seen travelling northbound on Trafalgar towards Mud Street in Stoney Creek, Ont.

The vehicle is an Enterprise Rental Car and might have a sticker or licence plate cover indicating that, police added.

The Hamilton Police Department is urging anyone with information about Sukhraj Cheema-Singh’s whereabouts or the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
