Five individuals have been apprehended in connection with a shooting that occurred in Vaughan last month.

Police believe the incident stemmed from a foiled kidnapping, which originated from a family dispute. The York Regional Police swiftly responded to the shooting, which took place in the parking lot near Islington Avenue and Steeles Avenue West, shortly before 1 a.m. on April 12.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered two men who had sustained gunshot wounds and a third man who had been assaulted. Although the victims’ injuries were not life-threatening, the incident was deemed serious.

Following an extensive investigation, the police revealed that the altercation began with a family dispute that escalated into a kidnapping. Four suspects were involved in abducting a male victim.

An unexpected twist occurred when a fifth suspect attempted to intervene and free the victim, resulting in the shooting. The suspects involved in the kidnapping are identified as 19-year-old Yazan Shriki, 23-year-old Mohamad Ali Aluadamani, 20-year-old Ahmad Almouadamani, and a 17-year-old youth from Toronto. Each of them is now facing a charge of kidnapping.

Furthermore, 21-year-old Umair Aziz has been charged with two counts of attempted murder using a firearm, two counts of discharging a firearm with intent, possession of an unauthorized firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, and reckless discharge of a firearm.

The police have emphasized that the incident was a targeted attack, and there is no immediate threat to public safety.
