In a disturbing incident that has shaken Toronto’s Riverdale neighborhood, a 27-year-old man has been apprehended by police in connection with a daytime sexual assault. Law enforcement authorities are now urging potential additional victims to step forward as they investigate this alarming case.
The incident occurred on Saturday, around 12:38 p.m., when a woman was in the vicinity of Dundas Street East, just west of Broadview Avenue. According to a press release issued by the Toronto Police Service, a man approached the woman, crossing the street and positioning himself behind her before carrying out the sexual assault.
The suspect, subsequently identified as Odainne Trujillo, was last spotted fleeing the scene in the westbound direction on Dundas Street. Police promptly released an image of Trujillo on Sunday, seeking assistance from the public in identifying him. The response from the community was swift, enabling authorities to locate and arrest Trujillo, a Toronto resident.
Trujillo now faces multiple charges, including one count of sexual assault, two counts of assault with intent to resist arrest, and two counts of failing to comply with probation. He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto courtroom on Monday, where further details of the case are expected to emerge.
