On the evening of May 6, 2023, a woman walking her dog in the McCowan and McNicoll Avenue area in Scarborough was reportedly approached by a man who had parked his dark coloured, four-door vehicle near a park. The man tried to initiate a conversation with the woman before brandishing a knife and demanding that she get into his vehicle. Fortunately, the woman managed to flee the area with her dog and immediately contacted the Toronto Police Service.

Police have launched an investigation into the attempted abduction incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The man has been described as Brown, 6’0″ tall, aged between 20 to 30s, with a medium build and clean-shaven. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweater, blue jeans, and black and white Nike shoes.

In light of this alarming incident, police are reminding the public to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings, particularly when out alone at night. They have advised that people walking alone at night should stay in well-lit areas, carry a phone, and avoid listening to music or using their phone while walking.
